We’re celebrating all of our birthdays together and we need:

1. A photo of each of you for a guessing game so no ID on photo! Under 35—toddler or early elementary school. Over 35—high school graduation or early 20’s. Drop it off at church office in an envelope with your name on it so we can get it back to you.
2. A childhood favorite food (not dessert!) for the potluck.
3. Think about something to share about yourself that we might not know.
4. RSVP by February 26. (see Worship Registration form).

More than 20 years ago, The Souper Bowl of Caring began with a simple prayer from a single youth group:

“Lord, as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us to be mindful of those without even a bowl of soup to eat.”

Since that day, more than $71 million has been raised for local charities across the country through Souper Bowl of Caring. It has become a powerful movement that is transforming the time around Super Bowl weekend into the nation’s largest celebration of giving and serving. Through this mission, young people learn what it’s like to make a positive difference in the world – as they collect food, raise money and volunteer to work in charities that provide shelter to the homeless, food to the hungry and compassion to those in need. Be part of this movement that is sharing God’s love with those in need.

Please give generously on Super Bowl Sunday. Every dollar donated goes to Lutheran World Relief

Come to Church February 5th with dollars in hand and vote for you favorite team. This year the New England Patriots are playing the New York Giants.

Thank you! We raised $268.40 for the needy in our community. And the Giants won the Super Bowl and the Souper Bowl. Giants fans donated $145. Patriot fans donated $123.40. Thanks again!!

Our Annual Meeting will be January 29, 2012, at 11:25 AM.

We’ll have elections and discuss reports and the five-year plan.

A Fun Day of Movie and Lunch – Tuesday, February 14, at 11:30 AM. We will be seeing the recent comedy –“Mr. Popper’s Penguins.”

Tripster’s Lunch – Sunday, February 19, at 11:25 AM – meet in the parking lot. “Magpies” here in La Canada. All are welcome.

Keep the date open: Tuesday, March 13 – A special trip is being planned. We will leave mid-morning. The details will be announced soon!

Tripster’s March Sunday Lunch will be March 18 – keep that date open also!

Christmas Day Service at 10 AM

 Again we are gathering Target Gift Cards (please only $10 cards) to share with the children at First Lutheran, Inglewood.  You can buy the “Cards” and bring them with you to worship, or you can make a special gift with the pew envelopes – please note if they are for the Target Cards.  The children at First Lutheran are excited and hoping for cards again this year.  They usually only get a gift or two, but these cards enable them to buy their own gift, and Pastor Kristian says that they are so excited to get to actually purchase what they hope for.

Haven House, the first domestic violence emergency shelter of its kind in
the country, is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping abused
women and their children on their way toward a life free of violence.

Bring unwrapped NEW items and place them in the box in the Narthex/Entry or bring them to the church office, Monday through Friday from 9AM to 2 PM. Gifts need to be received by Sunday, December 18.
