Here’s What’s Happening at LCIF!

Nepal Earthquake 2015

A collapsed building in Kathmandu, Nepal, just hours before a second earthquake hit.

Please pray for those affected by the earthquakes in Nepal and for all who are working to respond to the disaster.

Make Quilts and Kits. Donating Quilts and Kits helps ensure we have an adequate supply to send around the world to partners who request them, as well as in response to emergencies. The 9,000 Mission Quilts and 1,000 Kits we already sent to Nepal are getting depleted incredibly fast. We need more!

quilt_1647cLCIF’s Quilting Group has been working very hard to make quilts for Lutheran World Relief. We have all the supplies and equipment—we just need hands to help. No experience is necessary and if you can’t stay for the whole time, please come when you can and stay as long as you can—we’ll find a job for you. This is a great way to do “God’s Work. Our Hands.” Please consider joining us in this venture. Please see Estelle Segaitz if you have questions. We meet each week though the days vary according to the Women’s Bible Study schedule. Our next meeting is TUESDAY, May 26, from 10 AM to 2 PM.

Parking: There is plenty of on-street parking in our neighborhood if our lot is full. The Church of Truth (690 Orange Grove Blvd, two blocks east of us) has also offered their parking lot for additional parking.

Messiah Lutheran Church will close the book on its ministry of 102+ years at the corner of Orange Grove & Madison in Pasadena but we will be leaving a legacy that has included support for housing for the elderly, care for the homeless, music and arts education, the development of leaders for church and society, and Hispanic ministry. We are able to leave the real property located at Orange Grove & Madison as well as remaining assets to be used for the development of a new multilingual, multicultural and multiethnic ELCA mission; a bilingual pastor developer has been identified and will be able to start work this summer.

 To God be the Glory!
